You can find many activities to do while in Santorini, such as hiking, biking, swimming or just exploring the city by foot. If you are looking for something more relaxing we recommend visiting Oia where you can enjoy a breathtaking view overlooking the Aegean Sea. To get a full experience during your stay here we suggest doing 3 days itinerary in Santorini which includes 1 day at Fira (the capital), 1 day at Imerovigli, and the last day at Oia While Agoda also offers Private, Home & Hotel stays in and around the Island, it’s one of the best choices of the city for starting your trip with.

  1. Fira: The capital of Santorini is a great place to start your visit in Greece since it has many things for all tastes, from restaurants to shops or simply enjoy its picturesque streets while walking around.
  2. Imerovigli: It’s one of the few villages in Santorini that still has preserved the traditional way of life. It’s a small village located at an altitude of 640 meters and offers breathtaking views, especially during sunset.
  3. Oia: The last stop on your trip should be Oia which is one of the most popular places in Santorini because it features some of the best views in Greece.

Now that you know all about this beautiful island, it’s time to start packing your bags!

BEST TIME TO VISIT THE ISLAND

The best time to visit Santorini is during the shoulder season in late spring and early autumn. The climate will be perfect for exploring, with temperatures that still hover around 20 degrees Celsius (68F) while you enjoy a full menu of outdoor activities. Days are long and there’s plenty of sunshine, making it ideal for sightseeing.

WAYS TO GET TO SANTORINI

Santorini is by no means easy to get to, but it’s worth the journey. There are a few ways you can travel: plane, boat or ferry. If you’re looking for an adventure and want to save money at the same time (and don’t mind sitting in economy class) we recommend taking the ferry from Athens to Santorini. This is the cheapest option, but it does take up to 11 hours due to high winds and currents in the Aegean Sea.

This itinerary includes information about how much time you’ll need for each day – this will depend on what activities you choose to do or where you decide to explore. We recommend giving yourself at least 24 hours for each day, and a few days to rest or explore the island.

Santorini is home to many spectacular views – but also some dangerous roads. If you’re not renting a car, we recommend going with local transportation services like taxis (which can be expensive) or Public Buses that cost €0.80.

Highlights:

Sunset at Oia: one of the most romantic views in Santorini and a must-see for any sunset enthusiast! It’s best to visit either early evening or late morning so you can watch it set after dinner, then get back before dark as driving on these roads is extremely challenging when there’s no light.

Find the hot spots for wine: don’t forget to stop by a winery, even if only for sips! Santorini is one of the largest producers in Greece so you are sure to enjoy some delicious wines and cheese while overlooking the stunning Aegean Sea.

Take an evening dip at Red Beach: because who can resist a red beach? This is one of the most popular beaches in Santorini, and it’s more than worth driving past all those other white ones.

Explore the beautiful Greek architecture: every village has something special to offer – whether that be an old church or a stunning temple. There are many ways you can explore these – rent a car, take the bus o winery, and toast with some locals while overlooking the stunning Aegean Sea!

Santorini is one of the most unique islands in all of Greece. For a relatively small island, Santorini offers many opportunities for adventure – from day trips to wine tasting excursions and beautiful walks through old towns. This itinerary will help you plan your trip so that you can see everything this unforgettable destination has to offer!

FAMOUS EATERIES

Kalderimi: This is a small family restaurant on the outskirts of Oia, overlooking the Caldera so you can get away from all the touristy crowds. The food is fresh and delicious with a traditional Greek menu that includes an exquisite selection of meat, seafood, and vegetables. It’s one of the most favorite places to eat in Santorini.

Eros: If you want to experience authentic Greek food, try this restaurant in Oia that has been open since 1975 and is still owned by the original family. The menu here changes daily depending on what’s fresh. For a true taste of the Greek countryside, order their house specialty: slow-roasted lamb with vegetables.

Kamari Selene Restaurant: This seaside restaurant offers amazing views and delicious food. For appetizers try either of their salads or soups; for entrees, they have everything from pasta to fried fish, spicy chicken kebabs, and eggplant salad.

Fisherman’s Tavern: Situated on the beach in Kamari with a lovely view of the Aegean Sea; this restaurant features fresh seafood dishes like grilled octopus arms or baked red mullet as well as homemade portions of pasta. The place is popular among locals for its affordable prices and delicious food.

Mesarthri: The only restaurant in Oia that serves a full vegetarian menu, Mesarthi is located on the main square and offers fresh salads like their Santorini salad as well as homemade soups. You would love to get take away here for lunch or dinner when traveling with vegetarians!

DAY ONE: FIRA

MORNING- The day starts with a fresh crepe and coffee on the balcony. You can also find accommodations on Agoda that offer breakfast. You can’t help but feel good, knowing you have three more days ahead of you to explore Santorini’s unique beauty. Head back inside for breakfast (after all, your stomach deserves it) then take a quick walk through Fira before heading out to explore the island.

AFTERNOON- The first stop is at a natural cave called Pyrgos Dirou, which means “Lark’s Nest.” It was named after an ancient Greek legend about larks that nested in its rocks and sang happily for Zeus. In the actual myth, as told by Aeschylus in his play Prometheus Bound, the larks were men punished by Zeus for their carelessness.

The legend might be a bit morbid, but it still makes for a great walk up and down these red-black basalt columns that are 500 million years old. The views from atop them are just as breathtaking: one side looks out over Pyrgos Bay to Santorini’s stunning caldera, while the other reveals a lush green valley.

EVENING- After hiking up to Pyrgos Dirou, you’ll have time for a quick swim before heading back into Fira and grabbing some lunch (or more coffee). The views are always better after an invigorating dip in the sea!

The rest of the evening is yours to explore Santorini. You will see the famous sunset from Kamari Beach or take a boat tour around the island. What will you do?

DAY TWO: IMEROVIGLI

MORNING- Wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the caldera and head out for some breakfast. So many eggs, pancakes, french toast, and bacon in one morning-but it will be delicious!

Explore the region on foot, and get an idea of how it feels to live in this area. Find that perfect souvenir at one of the smaller shops or go out exploring and find a new gallery you love even more than your old favorite ones.

AFTERNOON- Do something different today! Hire a car by Agoda at affordable prices in Italy. You can even compare 900 companies at over 60,000 locations and explore beyond city limits into wild blue yonder with stories behind every town past borderlines – from county fairs where cotton candy melts in your mouth tasting memories long gone as childhood nostalgia washes over you again.

EVENING- In the evening, Cave Santorini Spa is a place built in harmony, offering the wellness and relaxation you deserve for your holiday.

DAY THREE: OIA

Day 3 and last day in Oia is a time to decide for yourself what you want from your visit. Do you just want to take pictures? Would you like to go hiking, or would you prefer an afternoon on the water? There are infrequent excursions that some people may wish to consider.

MORNING: walk down to Amoudi Bay, which is at the lower part of Oia, and you will get here just before it is light enough to see anything other than the black silhouettes of the buildings along our route. Sunrise at Monolithos Beach is the aim.

AFTERNOON: After breakfast, Outdoors, hiking, by water, and some shopping are the main choices for your third day in Oia.

EVENING: The nightlife of Oia is pretty famous now. Bars are also open slightly later than usual, some even starting their party at 6 pm so people can come for a drink/light meal before heading out to dinner or clubbing or to the local taverna’s and restaurants which don’t start serving until 9 pm. Just like in all of Santorini, the bars all have a great view.

Note: The prices of hotels on Agoda in Santorini change with every season so if you are thinking about taking a trip there this summer,  we recommend checking this site often for the best deals.

Note: The ferries that take you from Athens to Santorini and back are more expensive than the plane but it takes only 5 hours. If you decide to go with flights, we all know that there are a lot of different websites out there for buying tickets, but not many compare. One website in particular stands apart is Shoptopdeal because they offer deals on everything from airfare to hotels and rental cars so you can get the best price possible with your itinerary!
